"Big data" -- the practice of both collecting and analyzing massive amounts of information -- has become a ubiquitous term in many industries. From large and heterogeneous datasets, companies can often infer trends and consumer behavior. In this talk, I discuss "big data" methodologies and how they can help aviation analysis. There are two parts to this talk: first, I present various ways aviation data could be collected and organized. Second, I discuss how this aviation data catalog -- along with some mathematical technologies -- could be used to solve some of aviation's most pressing challenges.
